Sweeney Todd production results in real cut throats. For some reason they didn't stop after just one. New Zealand students suffer neck cuts in Sweeney Todd show - BBC News

I can't figure out how it happened to two. I don't recall any scene where there are two at once.

However, I can see how it could happen once. In most countries the arts have had funds cut so much that props are rarely purchased....they are made or provided by students. My son has had to provide a knife or sword for various scenes. One that he made could have cut someone. He didn't do that on purpose, he just didn't realize how sharp tin foil can be. They say this Sweeney Todd prop was made with silver paper....I'll bet it was tin foil. It was probably inspected by an adult and was fine....but over time, students handling it, and pinching the edges would make it sharper. Teachers don't re-examine props before every practice or performance.
