Pretty much, though they had their moments. I loved that show!
To this day I refuse to watch The Chew because it's what ABC replaced All My Children with. I watched AMC on and off throughout the years. It was always like coming home for me after not seeing it for months or weeks.....

Yes, many fans were upset with The Chew for just that reason.
Recently I was home sick from work for a couple of days and I tuned into General Hospital. I used to watch this show many years ago and had not seen an episode since before the turn of the millennium; so at least 15 years. Don't you know I was hooked after ten minutes! I found myself Googling storylines and characters so I could catch up. And I was amazed to see some characters/actors that were still on from "back in the day." The weekday soaps on network TV were classic. Too bad most of them are gone.

I watched some of the other shows mentioned on the Wikipedia list growing up, but the only instance I remember specifically is Freddy Prinze's suicide (Chico and the Man)

I remember Night Court from further down the list but I was in high school by then.... well, still growing up I guess but anyway.... let see what else I missed....

Personally, I think Monk probably handled the death of an actor the best... Monk's psychiatrist died and he accepted it only grudgingly over a series of episodes finally allowing another psychiatrist to help him....
Loved Monk. I became very protective of a TV character while watching this.
