Mine definitely says "flu" when Hop Frog is helping them get ready in their costumes. But at the end, it does say flax. Just a typo, maybe??

Agreed! Definitely a different tone than I expected going in.Thanks for recommending this story, Joe. It was markedly different in tone than the few others I've read by him. I liked it, though.

No, I went further back. A great actor in Wild Wild West and one of the players in the episode of Star Trek where Kirk kisses Uhura, Plato's Stepchildren. If you watched how he kind of hopped along as he walked, he immediately sprang to mind. Good story. Very fairy tale.Did anyone else picture Tyrion Lannister as the dwarf? Ha, even down to the wine (but this story's dwarf, Hop-Frog, drank against his will).

...same thing I did and the reward was, as you say, a bunch of other great tales...I came across Hop-Frog for the first time in the Arbor House Treasury of Horror. This was the collection that The Crate was published in and Steve wrote the intro. I bought this anthology just for The Crate but found many other good tales in this one. I think it was in 1981 or 1982.
...I thought of the same actor!!!...we are nothing but brilliant!....No, I went further back.
