Thanks, my friend!;-D
Laurel? It's all I hear.
Listen to it again in an hour, in a different location . I heard it one way at my desk, the other way in the gym, my car, my house.:alien:

OK, folks! The internet is messing with us yet again. I heard this earlier on an Instagram post and it was clearly
Laurel - spoken in a deep voice
now I listen to the one Sigs posted and it says
Yanni - spoken in a squeaky higher pitched man's voice
, so I went back to the one that I listened to earlier to see if it was maybe two different postings and danged if it didn't say
Yanni like this one!

There is probably some danged programming that alters it after a certain time. Anyway. I'm over it.

BTW -
The dress was white with gold stripes and the other bluer image was filtered.

I don’t think so. DH & I heard it together. We did not hear the same thing. A friend heard on word and her kids heard the other....they heard it together.

Apparently Laurel is more commonly heard by older people who no longer hear the higher pitch clearly. There could be a difference in recordings, but it’s not a trick to fool people.

I had ignored the fuss, but I had to drive for a ways today, and even NPR is caught up in it. They played the clip, and I clearly heard
Laurel. I tried to listen for something else, but that's all I heard.

They discussed it further, and apparently the clip was originally taken from someone, live or electronic, saying
Laurel
.

I'm not sure what it proves, but it seems interesting from a neurobehavioral standpoint.

I was mostly kidding. As my post stated, i heard different things at different times and places. The only thing I can figure is, my office has a lot of white noise in the background. That was where I hear yhe higher frequency. Everywhere else I hear the lower pitches.

Confirmed this morning. At the office it's Yanny. Everywhere else it's Laurel. My 14 yo hears Yanny only. But it is definitely not something to argue about. We can still all get along!! (((Tet))):love_heart:

So NPR sez its Laurel? I was under the impression that it was electronically generated to test hearing loss.... those who hear Yanni have lost hearing in the upper register, and those who hear Laurel, the other. Therefore, its both.....

Hmmm, the CBS article seems to cover everything, except the hearing loss bit....

Really? Hearing loss, eh? What was that you said, sonny?

It's weird - the first time I heard it was yesterday morning on TV and I heard Laurel. The one they linked to above sounded like Yanni - how can two completely different words come out of a hearing test?

Maybe it should be Lanny or Yori?
