Thank you for your replies!

We used to kiss our son on the lips when he was a little kid. Some time between...5-7 years old (?) it changed to a peck on the cheek. I don't remember how it happened (I would have thought for sure I would remember it.) it just did.

(Our cultural thing, no matter what age, our kids always wait for our blessing. Going to off to school, work, out of the house ... if we don't say it right away they will wait for our, "God bless you." I always await my elders "Dios te bendiga" :blues: It's a nice, comforting custom for us. :))

Have a great week!
I love that you do this! When I drop the kids off at school I always say: Have a good day! I love you! Be a blessing! My son tries his best to dart out the door before I get it all out, but I've got him figured out and I always manage to make him hear it.

My mom and me always used to say goodbye by a kiss on the nose (unless one of us were sick). We kept that up until she passed away. My father was neither a hugger or a kisser naturally but i managed to kiss his nose too even if he pretended not to like it.

There's a theory that mommies kiss little babies on the lips not just for affection, but so that nursing mommies can pick up any hint of bad microbes and build up immunities to pass on to baby in her milk. I don't know how much truth there is to it, but it makes biological sense. As children get older and no longer nurse or need that level of protection, kisses are all affection and less biological maternal instinct.

When I was growing up I was kissed on the lips by mom, dad, aunts, uncles, and other elders when the situation warranted (nothing weird I assure you). When I kiss my kids or grandkids it is always on the cheek or forehead. Times have changed and, in this exploding information age, the word pedophile is always tossed around, even when the behaviour is innocent. I think nowadays appearance is more important than truth, too bad.
