Paradise Lost ~ A three part series concerning the West Memphis Three and the horrible murders they were accused of. Very informative, and at times bizarre.
I never believed the three teenagers were guilty, and I think it's a shame they were forced to accept an Alford Plea after 20 years to regain their freedom. Personally, I always thought one of the parents was involved. Definitely a story of a horrible crime and a miscarriage of justice.
It has some bits of graphic video and photos of the crime scene......DJ, I don't think you can watch it.
I've seen all 3 docs. Fascinating stuff.

I watched the first part when it came out and I was positive the teen boys did it.

THEN I watched the other docs as they came out and was convinced that it was the one little boy's dad. The one whose hair was found in the knots of the ropes tying the little boys.

And I was even more sure the boys didn't do it when they had a chance to get out on an Alford Plea. They had to admit guilt and they would be released on time served.

They all had to take the Alford Plea or they stayed in jail. Jason was not wanting to take that Alford Plea on a crime they didn't commit. The ONLY reason he agreed to it was to save Damien's life. He was on death row. If he wouldn't have been, Jason would not have accepted the Alford Plea and they would still be in jail. That was the final thing that convinced me they rushed to judgment on some odd teenage boys.

I never believed for a minute those teenage boys did it. I first thought it was the crazy stepfather of the one little boy, but he later changed his mind.
I loved the interview at the end where Damien thanked Jason because he knew he had agreed in order to save his life.
Damien said they were poverty stricken white trash and they made an easy target for the prosecution. I believe that.

Yes. When you see the documentaries all together, it definitely gives you the full picture.

When I saw it, the first documentary came out in 1996 all by itself. It really painted those boys guilty and I believed it. Had I seen all 3 documentaries together, I would have known they didn't. It took them years to continue the investigation to bring justice.

Good work on the documentarians part.

Saw one of the episodes of Spy in the Wild (shown on PBS) for the first time last night. This was great! I'm not always a fan of nature documentaries because they almost always feel like they have to show us at least one scene of an animal taking down another one. It's like explicit sex scenes in any show as far as I'm concerned. I know it happens and I know how it happens so I don't have to see it and don't want to watch it. As soon as one of the killing scenes comes on, we change the channel. The only scene like that was of bears catching fish which for some reason isn't as upsetting. I even managed to watch the entire segment about snakes with only an occasional shudder.

Was that snake show on last night? If so I watched it, also. Those colorful tree snakes that 'fly' through the air were pretty cool.

It was. It was hard to look at this man and know what he did to his wife, unborn son and those two little girls. How could he do that and not show one ounce of remorse? Such a flat affect. So selfish.
I just can't understand how he could do it. I don't understand how any of these men do it. Divorce may suck and be expensive but is it not better than prison or death row? His babies for crying out loud. I just cannot imagine their little faces while he did what he did to them. Breaks my heart.

And the one little girl was talking to him. Asking him if he was going to do to her what he did to her sister. She begged him, "No daddy." Horrifying.

Yeah. I don't get the thinking at all. I'm going to murder my family so I can be with my side chick. Why not walk away from your family and be with your side chick? You still have your freedom, you can still be out living life. But you chose to murder them and now you are in hell every single day of your life. And for doing it, that's where he belongs. And I hope life is tough for him behind those bars.

I hope so too. The absolute toughest. And I hope the faces of his family haunt him when he tries to sleep.
