...if I'm picturing the incident correctly, it sounds as if you've hyper-flexed it...no residual damage should have been done...and even if there were a micro tear in the ligament or tendon, or a non-displaced tiny fracture...your body is telling you via pain response to not push it's limits and the wonderful machine that is the human form will go about it's repair work ..nothing special as far as treatment....warm moist heat and OTC analgesia....be mindful though, now that the joint has been injured, it will not be as strong as before and will be more prone to injury again....
