So have you ever been responsible for any embarrassing errors of judgement?

I've made a few boobs in my time, mainly caused by forgetting the old rule "measure twice and cut but once" when doing DIY, but my most serious error of judgement was when laying a new vinyl floor covering in a bathroom.
I took great pains double checking all my measurements, and making a "pattern" out of card to get a perfect curve around the basin and toilet pedestals.
Feeling confident I'd prepared well, I placed the vinyl flooring face down, measured and marked the back using my patterns, and cut it to a perfect fit.
Unfortunately I had overlooked the fact that it would be 180 degrees wrong when laid face up!
What a "numpty".. :hopelessness:
So come on, own up....:secrets:

Nope. I'm so afraid that I'll get ripped off (Mr. Mercedes did not help with this fear--lol) that I've put it off. Now I realize that I really need to bite the bullet and trust someone. I NEED my machine :p
Yeah, you're local computer repair guy may be a complete whack job...lol, Did your external drive just die? You don't get a connect chime when you hook it up or anything? Is the drive spinning up when you connect it?

I seem to have blocked or buried the memories. Wait...there's one...no no, not sharing that one...

I accidentally shredded a $10,000.00 check at work. I got the mail and opened the important stuff and this check was among the mail. Then, as I always do, I took the junk mail over to the shredder and shredded it. A little later I was going to go to the bank and I could not find this check anywhere. I was thinking, "I know I brought in in from the mailbox, what the hell did I do with it?" Finally, as I started retracing my steps, it dawned on me that maybe this check accidentally got a ride with the junk mail to the shredder. I dumped the shredder basket out on the floor and started going through it and sure enough, I found pieces of what once was a check. I had to call the company that sent it to get replacement and it was a big company (It was a company that worked with Texaco and Shell) so I had to spend about a month explaining the situation to a couple dozen different people and about 3 months to get a replacement. I've been a little more careful with my shredding ever since. ;-D

That's horrifying! I'm glad you were able to get it replaced.

I can hear the drive spinning, but the screen doesn't show anything--just blank. It's so frustrating! I'm gonna sack up (figuratively-lol) and take it to the college repair shop. One episode of shooting myself in the foot is enough for me.
