Tonight was the end of our adult summer reading program. We had a great dinner there. We had chicken salad sandwiches,Chicken tenders,Chicken bites, chips, fruit tray, veggie tray, cheesecake bites. Can't remember what else was there. But they let us each bring home a plate for lunch tomorrow.
Then they did the Grandprize drawing. Everyone got a bag of three books,an audio and a prize. My prize is an umbrella that has a flashlight on the handle. Hubbies prize was a tubler time glass. which says Escaoe the ordinary on it.
Mikey has his finale tomorrow. They will have a lunch and enter to win prizes.

I'm glad you've all been having a great time at the reading programme. Good luck to Mikey tomorrow. :)

It is so great that you do things as a family. Josh likes East Indian food, so before Andy goes back up North I am going to make sure Josh comes with us to the East India Company or the Clay Oven for a nice feast :yes_pig:

We'd always try to do something with the kids in summer. You know the Vacation thing to Mooseland or whatever.

But one time, with a three-day weekend coming up, we just got it in our heads to drive to Albuquerque. Sounds weird, right? But there was a great zoo there, Santa Fe had this weird church that was fascinating, we studied petroglyphs in a state park, and part of the drive back home was along the magnificent Sangre de Cristos.

Then one year, I was having trouble making time for a week(or so)-long vacation. We live in a beautiful state. We took a summer of regular and three- and four-day weekends and went around the state, from Lamar to the Sand Dunes to Mesa Verde to the Black Canyon to Colorado National Monument to Dinosaur National Park and our own backyard. It was a great summer The kids still remember it.

Good thread. I thoroughly endorse exploration and spontaneity.
