Favorite thing about summertime

While I realize it is not summertime for everyone the SKBM board, it is here in USA. I think for me the favorite thing about summertime is not wearing a coat. I know it sounds silly, but it was a really hard winter. I also like the summertime taste of cold lemonade on a hot day.

For me its the not waking up so early. More daylight and so many things to do and places to go.

Not silly at all! I LOVE the warmth of the sun, not getting up quite so early, lots of fresh fruit and veggies, and having my kids around (most of the time-lol). I like those people!

I love the light mornings. Coming home from work, going for a bike ride, or a blast in the 'Stang, and a early dinner outside one of the beautiful country pubs around here. Kind of makes you realise work is only a part of the day, not all of it.

My favorite thing about summer is that as of today, it is only 90 days until fall!!!

At the moment we having actual warm summer weather. So, no shoes when I get home, it's light really late and really early. On Friday school finishes so no more early mornings for a while. The way the grass smells right after it's been cut, too.

My favorite thing about summer is being off work (I teach) and staying up late (reading!) and getting up late.
I also like to go running around 7:30 when the sun is starting to go down, and there's that twilight quality that's just beginning.
Plus this banana daiquiri I'm drinking after doing some yard work is mighty tasty.

Warmth and long days.

And memories. School was out (except for some elective summer classes that I took), I was out with my friends, playing. In younger days, we played younger games; in teenage days, we played teenage games; and they were all fun. The summer of 1970, if I remember right: Pools, cruising, laughing... it stretched out forever in glorious revelry. If there's such a thing as heaven, it could do worse that bring that summer back in a continuous loop.

In my SwiftPup days summer meant.......

No school for two and a half months. God, how I hated school!!
Generally enjoying my free time. No serious job commitments, no cell phone, not having to answer to anyone, not having a tightly scheduled life. Lucky to have parents that let me do my thing as long as they knew who I was with and generally where I would be.
Getting into all sorts of general mischief when I hit my teen years
Cruising with my friends
Hanging out in the beach parking lot late into the night after work
Absorbing all sorts of music during said nights in the beach parking lot
Sleeping late the morning after the activities above
Trying (and never quite succeeding ) to impress the girls
General lack of clothing on said girls
Alleged involvement in street racing and urban surfing........
The night of the Batman premiere in 1989. That was an epic evening. Midnight show, over-sold movie theater, near riot in the theater with the lobby getting trashed. I actually did get in to see the movie that night and avoided getting into trouble. I truly was an innocent bystander on that occasion. Good times!

I've never liked summer. There are fleeting aspects to it that are lovely, but summer in general is not my favorite time of year.

I also dig that first honeysuckle air...everything in between shuts me down. Wake me when November comes.
