Sometimes I make Mouse oatmeal and mix in a can of salmon and peas and carrots. I got frustrated with dog food a few years back when it seemed like every dog food I'd buy was recalled for some reason or another and then when I thought I was safe buying Freshpet (refrigerated dog food), Consumers Reports did an article about rice having too much arsenic so I quit buying it! I have a copy of Dr Pitcairn's Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats. Great book! It has recipes for all kinds of ailments.

I've used that book as reference for years.

Do you find House or Field work better for you?

My two dogs eat mostly Taste of the Wild pacific stream and they do well on it. I supplement their diet with salmon/sardines/chicken breasts and vegetables. My kids supplement their diet with everything that they shouldn't have like chips and cookies. As long as they don't feed them chocolate, onions, grapes, or macadamia nuts I try not to spaz too much over it.
