Clematis Kakio
I had one of these growing against one side of the deck, up the lattice work. It was huge. My father-in-law cut it out one day when he came up and we weren't home... claiming it was nothing more than a giant weed. My wife nearly killed him. Luckily he left some of the root system in the ground and it is just started to come back last year, but it will be many years before it reaches its glory again.

Well, yesterday I returned from a vacation. I'd asked my neighbor to watch the house during which time he tore out three vines at my mailbox which I planted years ago, two of which were clematis vines. I have avoided talking to him since my return because I've been way too pissed off. I must ask him what happened eventually but I also must do so when my Irishness has cooled off sufficiently. I have decided, however, not to ask him to watch anything anymore while I'm away.

You're a nicer person than I am. I would not take the time to cool off - I would have immediately asked the neighbor if he had noticed who the L destroyed my flowering vines.

I once had the most beautiful fire orange azalea growing in a garden island out front. I had never seen one quite like it before. My wife wanted to move it. I begged her for two years not to move it as it would probably not take to being transplanted. One day while I was fishing she and her father decided to move it. Well, of course, it died. She felt bad and has always wished she had listened (probably because I can’t let it go) and has been looking for around 7 years for one to replace the one she killed. Last year she found a orange azalea that looks nice but doesn’t hold a candle to the vibrancy of the other one.

Thanx, I appreciate it. I'm dealing in my mind and heart what to do and say. I am pretty sure he meant no harm, and also pretty sure he is a bossy s.o.b., not to mention ignorant about plant life.

I'm really sorry, but sometimes I really hate human beings.
