And in their Year of the Quarterback Rookie, the Broncos have promoted Trevor Siemian (I know, who?) to top dog, and Mark Sanchez is making sure his resume is updated.

If you have a chance to get away from the kids visit Mt. Airy Lodge and Casino. Really nice there, great golf course, good food, and Bret Michaels is playing on Saturday, 9/3.

If you do the impossible and get past regional blind loyalty (Pats), and don't hate simply for what they've done against your team (Browns), the Broncos an easy team to like. They take their competitiveness seriously and try to enhance it through good coaching, smart acquisitions, and loyalty in their treatment of the team - although granting that it is a business, and often a cold one. For the most part, they have a healthy mutual love affair with the fans. The town, the region, goes crazy for them. To me, a lukewarm football enthusiast, Broncos Country is about as good as football gets.

One of my favorite football quotes, and I'm sorry if I'm repeating it, was from John McKay, who coached the hapless Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their formative years. They had just had their approximately 400th straight loss, and McKay was asked after the game about his team's execution. He said, "I think it's a great idea."
