He has always seemed to be a really good person.. met him once at a book signing.. I have his autograph on his biography.
I met him at a book signing also. I always have (and still do) like him. Alot of folks say he was a bad president and didn't do anything for the country but he has done ALOT, even more since he left office.

Terribly sorry to hear this! I attended his inaugural parade (actually, it's the only inaugural parade I attended!) and admired him more as an ex-president than a president. Two of the people whose graves I tend passed of liver cancer so I am really bummed. :blue: Sending best wishes!

I always felt Jimmy was just too kind to be President. Because, honestly, a president really has to be a bit of a d*ck.

It's more even than that, I think.

I always felt Carter was an intrinsically good person who was not suited for the job at all and got in way over his head. I sympathize with him in a way I do not for our current chief executive, another neophyte who might have done well to learn some of Mr. Carter's humility.

It's a shame, I think, that the people who might best lead this nation choose not to because they do not care to have their personal lives ripped open so the media can decide who is best suited to the task.

My prayers will be with Jimmy and his family.

I'll join the others in their assessment of his not doing his best job as POTUS but as a humanitarian, he's been outstanding. So sorry to hear of his diagnosis of cancer. It apparently is quite prevalent in his family history.
I really liked him as Georgia Governor, I felt that he did good things for the people of GA. That's why I voted for him for Pres.

Thoughts to him and his family and hope he beats the disease. To hell with cancer!!! He was the first US-president i was really aware of. I was in my early teens when he was president. He was never a favourite but i respected him far more than i ever did Reagan.

I think his heart was in the right place but that time in our history, the shape of the economy, and several international crises worked against his style of governing. Maybe a case of the right man but the wrong time. I voted for him, too. :smile2:

Yeah, I know I could probably not be a very good politician and especially not a President. Through Habitat for Humanity he's caused who knows how many people homes who couldn't otherwise have had them. He's always had a big heart.
