The original Bozo the Clown, played by Boston television personality Frank Avruch from 1959 through 1970 on the TV show "Bozo's Big Top", has died at age 89. With so much emphasis on scary clowns these days, let's remember one of the genuinely good ones: not only did he make millions of people smile, he was also a major UNICEF ambassador who helped many children around the world.

Rest in peace, Mr. Avruch.
