This was sent on my facebook from a man from Asia who lives in Fort McMurray, where the big fire happened this summer. My gosh, this must have been hard for him after escaping a war torn place. He did a lot of good as volunteer during the evacuation and during all his time in the city I refer to as my home place. We are having a conversation here.............................................................................

Thanks God for blessing me, my family most beautiful /best country of the world. Thanks to all Canadians, came before us to treat new coming on equality basis. Thxs to Ist responders of Fort Mcmurray for risking ur lives to keep us safe. Thx to all volunteers for making events attractive/ success for community. Bless u happiness on thanks giving day particularly to residents of Water ways, beconhill, Abasand.

That was so very beautiful Doger. We are glad to have you as one of our own Canadian. Judging by your posts, you have made a big positive difference to you adopted country. Peace to you and your family and Happy Thanksgiving, dear.

thx for ur remarks. I lived 49 yrs of my life in Asia. Same terrorism is in Africa. So I see things on comparative basis. It is obligatory on us( immigrants) to give a word of thx to main stream and be persuasive to new people to be part of system without any inconvenience to main stream.

Why no pilgrims? :umm:
Samuel de Champlain had the first Canadian Thanksgiving in 1606 - I don't think your pilgrims came over until after that?

I might be wrong - all I can remember is something about 1621?

I think we celebrate ours earlier in the year as it gets a lot colder up here sooner than down in the States (North Dakota excepted haha)

Happy Thanksgiving to our neighbors of the North! Celebrate well eh! By the way, I've often wondered how maple syrup tastes on turkey....
