I was in Crowder Brothers (a gift store on Bradenton/ FL) yesterday and ran into either Stephen King or an incredible doppelganger. I had a brief conversation with the nice gentleman, who said he knew Stephen. Unfortunately, I walked away unsure of who the nice man was for certain.
I, of course, have been dying to meet Mr. King for years. I have such admiration for his prolific talent. I just think he will go down in the history books as one of the great writers of our time. My favorite book of his is, On Writing. I think it is the best book about how to write well that I have ever read.
Anyway, I'm beginning to wonder if that was, in fact Mr. King, I ran into at the store. I feel kind of like an idiot if it was. I mean it was such a coincidence that the gentleman looked just like him and also knew him.
Well, whomever that man was, at least I got to tell him how much I admire Stephen King and his life's work. I just wish I knew for sure (which I guess I never will).
I have always tried to be so respectful of people with any level of celebrity, allowing them their privacy, if I see them in public. However, I would have to make an exception for Stephen King, I just have to tell him how much I admire him and his work, if I see him, and maybe get a photo or something that I can keep to inspire as I practice my writing craft.
I will keep my fingers crossed that I have such luck to meet him someday, considering we are living in the same area.
Sincerely,
Lisa A. Gray
