Hello I am an avid reader of his books. Have most of them in Hardback edition. The one question I wanted to ask, does this author have a problem with other races? Many of the books he has written have slurs in it about Jewish people or blacks, some other races have been mentioned, but more of the first two. I once saw an interview where he said he was using the language of the era that was spoken at that time.

Due to the nature of all races in the United States, why does he continue to write books set in modern day times with racial slurs?

Welcome to the Board! Keep posting!

I don't understand the above question which I highlighted. I know that sK is not a bigot; quite the opposite. He just doesn't allow a politically correct mindset to influence a story which is revealing itself to him. As Leif says, King writes realistically. I can't think of a protagonist of any of his stories who is a racist, only someone is an obvious bad guy.

Welcome.
Mr. King's writing reflects real-world attitudes and prejudices. He captures the genuine feelings of characters by making them seem real.
Thank you for your question. Hope you'll stick around and post some more!

...sadly, because racism still exists...and in some cases of late...MUCH more overtly then in the last 40 years....

Welcome. I venture to say that Mr. King prefers realism in his fiction, as opposed to, say, being politically correct. If a character or situation requires the use of the f-word,
then so be it. To do otherwise would be to betray his very personal feelings against censorship.Racial slurs are a fact of life. If you would not censor Donald Trump, why censor Stephen King?

he has to be true to the character. If the character is vile, he has to be believable.

Hello Nikki..

Welcome to SKMB .. hope you like it here and stick around.

I agree with what everyone has already said.. SK writes true to his characters, it is what draws you in and keeps you.
You said you are an avid reader and have most of them in hardback edition. I'm interested to know why you are a constant reader and collector if you believe he has a problem with other races..? Just curious.
