A Good Marriage (excellent tie-in, too, because of the upcoming film!)
Gerald's Game

Hell, anything from FDNS (lol)
The Regulators

This is hard! Yeah, I get the whole 'horror' thing, but Mr. King is actually one of the most moral, hopeful writers I've ever read--his books shine far more often than they 'darkle'.

I'll put my reasons here in spoilers in case anyone hasn't read all the works I've listed above.
Pet Sematary: As dark as King gets. Dead cat, dead student, dead child, revived child, dead wife, revived wife. There are things worse than death, King shows us.
Cujo: The boy dies. The dog dies.
The Long Walk: 99 boys die, and the one survivor is driven insane. While America watches.
Misery: The kidnapping and systematic torture of an author by a crazed fan. Hits close to home.
The Shining: Everything about The Overlook Hotel is evil, and that evil triumphs over a man already damaged by alcohol, child abuse, and broken dreams.

Spot on FF/ would add those to my FDNS. Excellent reasoning.
