Another hot day in Kelowna. There are over 100 wildfires in the Southern Interior right now. The smoke is so thick it's hard to see the mountains.
Can smell it in the air too.

I have to admit, after our 106-109F days, this is a relief.

Oh my! I had no idea it got that hot where you're at! I was just about to complain about our 3 days of 100F, heat index of 110 sometimes, but y'all blow us away. That's horrible. Our humidity is staggering. We've had VBS this week. I'm in charge of games. And I choose not to do that lame-o games in the book, so I've had us outside all week. Water games. Which is great for the kids - they come out in groups for 25 minutes, but I end up being out there about 3 1/2 hours. On the plus side, I've got a great tan. More 100F days ahead BUT come Saturday, we're heading to the beach!

It is very hard for sure. We had Mexican firefighters come in last week and now your people. Mostly help from countries whose wild fire season is over and they can lend the support. It is a shame that there are fires in Jasper National Park which is one of the most beautiful places in the world. We keep on being promised rain in Central Alberta and it does not happen. O Discordia!

We have had some good thunderboomers the last 2 nights. Very fast moving, so not much moisture gained, but lots of noise and lightning! 2 women inside a shed were indirectly struck by lightning on Tues night here, the lightning struck a lightpole next to the building and came out through the lawn chairs they were sitting in. They were taken to the hospital but expected to be ok.
