Read the Long Walk.
Maybe as sK's son Owen felt he couldn't read The Shining until all the voices and hubbub about it, its popularity and incredible success, the movie, had settled in his mind so he could gain perspective, so he could see what he himself thought of it.
Mr Nobody, please consider reading all titles regardless of anything you read about them. I learned my lesson long ago not to assume anything at all about an sK work, and can honestly say I've yet to be disappointed, despite what I figured a story would be about or if I'd like it.
I think that if you'd read Gerald's Game you know it.
Who are you talking at ?
am hoping I'm not the only one
(not sure if I'm posting in the correct place either, I apologize if it needs to be moved)
Obviously I am a big King fanaddict or I wouldn't be on this great site but I must come clean....I haven't read every single book. Yet. Before you send me to the gallows let me say that I do OWN all of them.
To read: The entire Dark Tower series. Still have my copy of The Gunslinger that I got when it first came out just haven't read it yet. Or any of them.
Blaze.
Am I the only one who has yet to read everything? Someone, anyone, please say it 'aint so!
I was wondering what the Ka-Tet was. Thank you!I am a sllooww reader. I'm sure there's 15-20 I need to read. I avoided the Dark Tower for years. I saw it on the bookshelf in 198?(7 or 8), and like you , the title put me off. I like to watch westerns, but I never wanted to read one. But in 2012 I picked it up and didn't stop for the nearly 2 years it took me to get through the series. I loved it. The Ka-Tet is just part of my life now. And all the funny language you'll hear around here is from that series.
That is so great. Thanks for sharing your reading! I've got to get on Blaze too. maybe I'll read revival first, Blaze after, and THEN start the Dark Tower series because I really want to read those straight through. Even if it takes me two years like Holly.January 5-6 The Gunslinger
January 6- 7 The Drawing of the Three
February 4 – 18 The Waste Lands
Feb 22 – April 11 Wizard and Glass
I read this slowly because I was taking a business class which required 90 – 120 pages of business reading a day, so my reading energy was zapped for a few month.
April 13 – 17 Wolves of the Calla
April 26- 30 Song of Susana
May 1- 7 The Dark Tower
May 12 – 30 The Stand uncut
June 3 – 7 Mr. Mercedes
June 16 – 30 The Shining
July 6 – 9 Mr. Mercedes (second read through)
July 10 – 14 Dr. Sleep
July 14 – 19 Under the Dome (part 1)
July 19 – 23 Under the Dome (part 2)
July 24- 25 The Wind Through the Keyhole
July 25- 28 Cujo
July 31 start IT
July Everything’s Eventual

You're missing out on some good stuff mate. From what I've noticed when reading, it's mostly the shorts/novellas crammed with horror, some stories like the body and shawshank redemption have none.I've only read 11/22/63 and Mr. Mercedes. 11/22/63 is one of my favorite books and I plan on reading Joyland soon. I want to start the Gunslinger series by early next year.
If anything, it's kind of odd that I like King's writing, but I don't plan on reading any of his horror novels any time soon.
You've been too busy to read it. But I recommend it. I've been a fan of the Clint Eastwood so-called spaghetti-westerns for a long time, and I kept thinking, "Damn, if this isn't a great, weird, fantasy spin on The Man With No Name." Had I not been used to those Eastwood movies, I might not have "gotten" Gunslinger, though I'm sure I would've still liked it and considered it entirely unique.I haven't either and I've worked for him for nearly 26 years. If he can cut me some slack on that, we certainly can do the same for you.
I was wondering what the Ka-Tet was. Thank you!
Per Wikipedia...I was wondering what the Ka-Tet was. Thank you!
