Blow up the T.V.
Throw away the paper.

It's a crappy negative profit/power/money world that is not naturally beneficial to any life form.
It's hard to stay positive and hopeful in that stew so we need to focus locally and find our own pockets of sunshine.
Sometimes getting mad at the B.S. is okay.
Never get sad at it though.
As far as personal development and motivation go, we all have to find peace. Forcing yourself to do something that goes against your grain may help. If you do it often enough, the grain becomes smooth.
One more armchair philosopher pipes in. Peace to all, mal.

She was a level-headed dancer on the road to alcohol
And I was just a soldier on my way to Montreal
Well she pressed her chest against me
About the time the juke box broke
Yeah, she gave me a peck on the back of the neck
And these are the words she spoke

Chorus:
Blow up your TV throw away your paper
Go to the country, build you a home
Plant a little garden, eat a lot of peaches
Try an find Jesus on your own

Well, I sat there at the table and I acted real naive
For I knew that topless lady had something up her sleeve
Well, she danced around the bar room and she did the hoochy-coo
Yeah she sang her song all night long, tellin' me what to do

Repeat chorus:

Well, I was young and hungry and about to leave that place
When just as I was leavin', well she looked me in the face
I said "You must know the answer."
"She said, "No but I'll give it a try."
And to this very day we've been livin' our way
And here is the reason why

We blew up our TV threw away our paper
Went to the country, built us a home
Had a lot of children, fed 'em on peaches
They all found Jesus on their own

Not just today. It looks to last indefinitely. I hope some of you can find some comfort and reasons to live.
Part of the reason I am here on SKMB is because reading a good book is one thing I keep in my arsenal for times I feel despondent. A really good book always manages to get me to look up and out of myself. So, do something that you know YOU truly enjoy...if it feels like you are faking it at first or forcing it, that will soon pass.

Also, here's a bit of "angel" music to cheer you on this fall Tuesday.

I'm about to turn twenty three, and I feel like an abject failure of the highest order. I still haven't gotten any writing done, I don't have a real job or volunteer position, and I have no girlfriend. My morale is significantly depleted. I sound like a broken record already. Typical me, a waste of perfectly good spermatozoa and ovum.

I don't think I was as frustrated as you but I remember saying at your age, "once I'm ________, I will be happy with my life!" The problem is that there is always new problems. I remember reading a quote from a billionaire who was on his death bed. He basically said he would give all his money to be young again! Time and health are your most valuable commodity!!

You're 23? The world is your oyster Dude! Don't like your job? Get a new one or go back to school. No girlfriend? Stop looking and one will come soon enough. Still upset? How about joining peace corp in a 3rd world country. You'll realize quickly how good we have it with running water and consistent electricity. And a toilet that flushes :)

Time is on your side! Turn off the damn TV and do something! Your possibilities are endless!!!
