I am happy today because...

Since Sept' 21st I've been without a car because of an accident, the car ended up being written off. Because of this there was no rental/or panel-beater courtesy car for us to use in the mean time.
The insurance company has paid us out for it and so... today we have put in an offer on a car in Auckland (loooong way away from home) and it has been accepted. It will be AA checked/tested tomorrow afternoon and if the report comes back peachy, then by Friday I will have a car again!

It's meatloaf night. Why not? Nothin fancy, just yer basic meatloaf--Quaker oats for filler this time, though I've been known to mix it up in that department. Baked beans, mashed spuds. Makes me happy, so it does. Yer bugger.
Thanks for the inspiration Muskie - I have potatoes, ground beef, baked beans etc. Guess it is time to go get all domestic in the kitchen!
(I use oatmeal in my meat loaf too!)

Do you do the sauce on top which is basically just tomato ketchup mixed with brown sugar?

Sometimes. Other times I just glaze the top with straight Ketchup (or Catsup if the pope stops by), like I did tonight.

Sometimes for filler I'll use crackers, or breadcrumbs, or (south o' the border style) crushed Fritos with a taco sauce glaze--killer. And sometimes, if the stars are lined right, I'll use sausage for filler--wrap yer head around THAT concept!

Great news. How far away do you have to go for it ? (and here we describe travel in the form of hours and minutes, not distance. :))

And are you saying I drive a "mom" car? ;):)

I think it's probably about a 13-14 hr round trip. (but once you're in the city, add another couple of hours for traffic. Auckland traffic is disgusting.)

Re: you driving a Mom car: Errrr.... no? :biggrin2:

The ride looks fine. Good job.
Thanks... :) Hopefully the report will come back all fine and then it'll be a deal!
(I'm sicka walking.... the kids and I got drenched on the way to school today... and I've decided buying groceries fortnightly for a large family when you don't have a car--is a stupid idea. And hard work. :biggrin2: )

Edit: This is the one I really wanted, but it's outside the price-range... I plan to save up for it though sometime in the future.

Because after posting the question Stephen King asked: "Pray do tell: Why are ravens like writing desks?"

The minute I got off the computer I started reading the Shining and two pages later he said: "the higher they are the fewer they are." Or something like that. Still doesn't seem like a satisfactory answer though. The Regulators is next. Followed, I think by the Running Man. Nice day as well.

Nice long hike, watched The Black Cat, and Mr. Man made fondue for dinner. How can you go wrong with melted cheese with beer, summer sausage, great bread, and vegetables? Thoroughly stuffed and very pleased tonight. Listening to Motown Pandora and drinking wine while I wash dishes :) KITCHEN DANCE PARTY!Unknown.jpeg
