There is a way to delete a post (I just found out recently) - it figures I cannot find the thread now.
Anyway, you highlight what you typed and then delete it, then you go up to that symbol that looks like a disk [in between the insert and the undo buttons] (when you hover over it, it will say Drafts). Click on it and choose Delete Draft.
