He'd be a hypocrite if he spoke stridently and publicly against those things, but then proceeded to do them covertly. As is (and without knowing him), he could be a sinner who is trying to change. Jesus told us that the well don't need a doctor as much as the ill. Just my opinion :)

Hey, when I lived in South Lake Tahoe back in the late eighties, our mayor went to church every Sunday. And it was on a Sunday that they arrested him for drug dealing and money laundering. In his case, attending church helped him look like a pillar of the community and throw people off his trail. Sometimes bad people hide in churches.

I know someone who drinks a lot, and got caught watching porn twice by his wife within the last month. Then has the nerve to go to church!
What do you all think of this?
Maybe he felt the need to confess his sins (but that would only be in a traditional church with a priest, a confessional etc.)

"Let he who is without sin be the one to cast the first stone" - I think I may have just misquoted Jesus there :umm:

He's not made to go to church, he goes of his own accord.
I call him a 'poser'. Trying to act like he is a good church going person to his parents, and the church members.
I lost all respect for him some time ago.

...in regards to this fella...

Then as nicely as I can put this . . .let him be. It's one of those things that you can't change and everyone knows the type of person he is and I still say he should attend.

May God's grace help him out a bit. How much drinking is "a lot"?, I do like beer, some wine, some Jager - drinking is not a sin as far as I know. But if you lose control and beat your wife and kids or chase girls (or boys) every time you drink, then mayhap it's time to reconsider.

Remember what a rowdy bunch some of those men Jesus befriended were? He'd reach out to the dredges of society and then bring them to your house for dinner. I'm not the best example of a good Catholic, but I'm at Mass every week trying to refocus, repent, do better. Forgive, be forgiven and try again.
Think you are looking for "dregs" of society.. Dredges are those big machines that scoop earth out of waterway bottoms..tho both are bottom feeders so..
