I mean people would just record it post it on YouTube then it would go viral so people would dress up like a clown and "it" would nI longer be scary because people would just assume it is someone doing a YouTube prank. Then when blood came out of the sink the kid would say " oh this must be a hidden camera social experiment" so in my opinion it's just best to keep technology and social media out of it. I think it will cheapen the story. Because people will say well how would the story have been kept in that small town Facebook would have made it go everywhere then the FBI should get involved because there is obviously some child kidnapping ring. Best to just keep those thoughts out of the eqausion by stick with the times. Could you imagine if stand by me.(the body) was made up to date. Those kids would have no reason to go on that trip because the first person that saw the body would have taken a picture and out it online so everyone would see it. It just changes to much
Because Pennywise couldn't possibly prevent a YouTube clip from going viral? (I don't actually think that would be a good way to handle technology in this story....just saying.)
There is a lot of cr@p on YouTube that some people believe. I have a friend who often believes absolute nonsense. (Fortunately his husband is level headed and tends to "bring him down".) The rest of us laugh at these videos. And if anything, that could be shown...that people seeing the clips either laugh or comment how phoney it looks...or how realistic it looks.

I still haven't seen the Carrie remake. Did she have a cell phone or was that an out of character shot? To me, Carrie having a cell phone goes completely against the original story because of her mother.
