Tough start to spring. I help coach girls softball ages 13 & 14. Try-outs were yesterday to determine which went to the traveling team and which went to the house team. The traveling team's pitching is set, but my house team was going to be lacking this season. Of course one of the pitchers had to have knee surgery last week and my southpaw might have broken her arm in tryouts (her left arm nonetheless). I fear it is going to be a long tough spring. In the immortal words of Sam Beckett... Oh boy. Friday night I told the southpaw and my daughter (who's a catcher), that rather than going out on a double date, they should practice and build up arm strength in order to help in avoiding injury. But do they listen? Come on girls, it's ball season not boy season. Scheeze, no priorities anymore.

I played softball a few seasons - my nickname was "RockGlove" if that gives you any idea of how awesome I was.

Here too or at least in my garage.
Be careful. I've learned that the really venomous ones are the ones that hide away in boxes and corners (and live in the battery outlet of my jam box in the garage). The hunters that you see along your baseboards, and sometimes in your bed, those guys are big and hurt when they bite, but aren't anywhere near as dangerous, and they aren't very reclusive, they'll chase you. I hate that I know these things.

I'm ready to head to the beach...check out the new sights. Imagine falling asleep on the beach, you wake up, and things have changed? like in that photo above? and you feel so out-of-place? what would that do to your psyche? anyway, yeah, cooled off here, too. Heard 18 below in Bootjack this morning on the radio. Said a few below zero on our thermometer, sheltered somewhat from the cold but still 'outside'. But the sun is shining, nice blue sky. I guess if you lie on the ground and look up you don't notice the snow. Summertime summertime.

Keeping fingers crossed and holding my breath that the Nor'easter is going to stay farther east so we don't get dumped on again. "Only" 1-3" of snow in the forecast for us for tomorrow but still miserably cold. Set new records yesterday and today for the lows. I didn't even bother looking at the thermometer for my house which is almost always several degrees colder than Bangor as it's just too depressing as it is. They're promising that this will be the last big snowstorm for this year and then things will turn around and the temperatures will become more seasonable. How they know that when they have enough trouble forecasting day to day is beyond me so will believe it when I see it.
