And what extraordinary plans does your wife have planned for you this year?:laugh::onthego::onthego:
Make a turkey in addition to everything else I have to do. Her aunt always makes two deep fried turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner. Last year her aunt called the day before Thanksgiving and said she was sick and probably wouldn’t be able to make dinner, but her husband would be making the turkeys. The wife said not to worry, we would make a turkey, but her aunt insisted she would still be providing them. Then Thanksgiving morning she called to say they weren’t coming and there would be no turkeys. The wife went ballistic. So I had to jump in the car driving around different places looking for those hot roaster chickens so we would have some type of bird to serve. It took me three different locations until I found a place open that had them. The wife said we weren’t taking any chances this year and I needed to make a turkey. Oh yeah, and I can’t use the oven because she needs it. So I have to wrangle up a roaster, also. :(

A one way airfare ticket is looking mighty fine...

Get a precooked one from local grocery. All the trimmings too.

wow- every grocery chain offers it here.
Thanks. Golden Corral is the only one on the list close to me and that's even over a half hour away. Plus I would need a 30 pound turkey (or two 15 pound turkeys which is what we usually do), and would probably cost me a arm, leg and wing. I'm picking up a roaster this weekend from a family member. I understand you don't get a good crisp skin when using a roaster but I do have a butane torch I could use to try crisping up the skin.

We are most likely staying home. My mom wants us to come to Nebraska but Scott works the day after plus we won't know Evan's work schedule until 5 or 6 days before. We could maybe go a few days early but that means taking the kids out of school, and again, Evan's work schedule comes into play.

Brandon and Marti and the littles are going to Nebraska so we won't have them here. But Thanksgiving is the only holiday they have that they can travel with RJ. So that's ok, I understand that.

I will do all the cooking for us here. We will eat and be together and just have a nice day.

Sounds like an enjoyably family celebration.
