I didnt say he was hiding i said i didnt know thats why i was asking thats ok isnt it? Anyway whats some other good books hes written?
No bad intentions meant by my response. Sorry if you took it that way. Your statement "but ive never heard anything about him" just prompted me to say what I did.

I have liked all of his novels and his short story collection. For some reason, I can't get into his magnum opus Locke & Key which is a series of graphic novels. My favorite book of his is NOS4A2 followed by his collection of short stories, 20th Century Ghosts.

King's son Owen is also a writer, as is Owen's wife Kelly Braffett (not to forget Tabitha!) Words are the family business.

Forgive me for changing the subject (it'll only be for a brief moment), but the above makes me think yet again of something I would love to see: an HBO (or other platform, doesn't matter I suppose) show that could be called The Kings of Horror. It would be a Tales From the Crypt and/or Tales From the Darkside-type anthology show, with each episode either scripted by one of the Kings, or based on a treatment written by one of the Kings. There could be collaborations between Kings, etc. The family member(s) that wrote the episode would introduce it. Would be an interesting project, I think. (I am repeating myself, I should point out.)

Back to the subject: can anyone tell me a short story from Mr. Hill that is very short and a good sample of his writing? Not sure when I would get around to checking it out, but I'd at least like to have that information on hand.

Mine was Best New Horror. That one really creeped me out. Don't forget his Kindle shorts, too! Wolverine Station reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode, but my favorite is probably Twittering from the Circus of the Dead. Thumbprint was good, too. I know I have at least one more--the one about the Loch Ness Monster--but the Kindle isn't handy (lol).

I concur with previous posters in praising Twentieth Century Ghosts. Fantastically written and dripping with nostalgia. In my opinion, his short story writing talents exceeds his father's.

I've only read one of his novels, Horns, and I wasn't a big fan of that one.

Theres another Joe Hill thread around here somewhere, so I'll just recap what I said in the other one:

Heart Shaped Box - Very very good
Horns - hated it --- didnt bother finishing the book
NOS4A2 - Excellent
20th Century Ghosts - Hit n Miss, with a lot more "hits" than "misses". For me, "Voluntary Committal" was over-the-top brilliantly outstanding and there are several other gems in here, too

Although I hated Horns, the batting average above is still very good for me

Joe is a bit darker and more macabre than Stephen King and he writes more from his generation's perspective somewhere between Gen X and Millennial while SK is more Baby Boomer to Gen X

I prefer Hill over Koontz and a lot of other Horror genre authors and I wish he was more prolific

is this stephen kings son? I was told he was a writer as well but ive never heard anything about him.is this true or someone pulling my leg?
He is Stephen Kings son, for sure! His name is Joseph Hillstrom King. He is a very cool dude, I was lucky enough to have met him at a book signing at Barnes & Nobles. He looks like his dad when Stephen was young(er). He also write Comic's or Graphic Novels. The Locke & Key series was great as was NOS4R2- Wraith
