My name is PJ Fiocco and I have been a "Constant Reader" since his first book hit the shelves. I am always left with many ideas after reading Mr. King and would like to share some. My latest:

    The King’s Ad Hoc Committee
    June 8, 2014
As with every story I have ever finished by Mr. King I am left with a deep sense of disquiet. My knowledge of reality gets pushed back further and further with each tale and I am left standing in a different landscape, one that more readily accepts all the possibilities. No narrow minds out here, ours are wide open and terrified, a gift from our fear-mongering leader.

I must thank Mr. King for the fact that should reality slip it’s bounds any time in the future, an alien invasion or the dead actually do raise up let’s say, then we, the Constant Readers, will find our psychic footing faster. We have lived in a land of infinite possibilities so long we are inured to the shock. As the world at large stands with their mouths gaping we will have already formed an Ad Hoc committee and gone underground. We most likely will identify ourselves with some obscure King reference…”dark, toothsome treat”, and will recruit only those who can summarize at least six dark tales from “The King”. The examples chosen by the hopeful would preferably come from Mr. King’s short stories, to glean out the pop readers from the Constant Readers. In some dark cave or basement we will confer, exchanging information and remembered solutions from countless dark tales. So many problems and so many scenarios have been worked out for us already, all we have to do is remember. Those of us who have been mocked for reading and re-reading countless times our beloved Mr. King’s musings will rise as leaders in the new world. The fountain of knowledge we possess due to our addiction will finally vindicate and elevate us.

But wait; do I really want to be in charge under dire circumstances? I realize that once I open my mouth and provide fast, plausible solutions to immediate emergencies I can never go back. With each new crisis I will see the heads swivel in my direction and the hopeful questioning faces searching mine for rescue. Oh Hell no…with that always comes the “Doubting Thomas” and dull loudmouths, religious freaks and Nay-Sayers that must constantly be wrangled or cajoled into saving themselves, or worst, convinced to stand aside and take no action so as not to doom everyone else with their actions. And when things slip side-ways (nothing ever goes as one plans, that is a hard fact of life), then the first person the mob comes for is yours truly. Unfortunately, I either have to step up, or rely on others to make the right choices. I don’t have control issues now, but wait until my life depends on it and see how fast I change. The best solution would be to just stay alone and fend for myself. But I don’t know many people that could abandon everyone they love to do that, and certainly not me.

I have it! I will set myself up as a “mystic”…much like Merlin. I will insist that before I can “advise” those who have chosen the leadership position on any given problem that I must go off with my loved ones to “hold hands and connect with the spirits” in some secluded spot. After doing so I can return with sage advice from the “world of magic” to pass on to the group. That way, when things “slip sideways” I can quickly escape with my loved ones with no one being the wiser (until we don’t return that is). This may ensure the group will work hard to protect my loved ones and me... to keep the “magic solutions” flowing. Of course, should we end up with “rival camps” the first ones to be kidnapped or slain would be us. Sigh. Hard times will demand hard decisions. Still, I think I shall start working on my Magician’s Robe now. I’ll bet Mr. King has his, but if he sees the flaw in this plan, I beseech him to write about it immediately. I’ll be listening.

That reminds me of the sitcom Frasier. He always says "Go ahead, I'm listening."
I like Jane Leeves. She plays Daphne on that show.

...it's exactly who I was thinking of, but figured that pic would be to obvious...so I went for obtuse....and Jane was a doll-baby....the coolest part of that show for me was trying to figure out the "cameo voices" of the callers...including our own Unca Steve back in the 2000-20001 season...
