I woke up to the news that a major bridge in my area is mostly closed. The coast guard has issued a warning to boaters to avoid the area because the bridge is in danger of collapse. I hope the coast guard warning is overblown because they have cut the traffic down to one lane (from 3) each way. It seems if the bridge was in danger of collapse, they wouldn't be allowing even one lane. To avoid this bridge requires many miles of extra driving. If this bridge is closed for a substantial amount of time, we will really be socially distanced here.

This bridge is 1 mile long and only 25 years old. A mile of bridge will take a while to inspect and repair. Last night a hunk of concrete fell from the bridge. I wonder if something has been up for a while because it seems like everytime I've gone over the bridge the past couple of months, one lane has been closed . I wasn't really paying attention to what was going on but I did notice the last time there was an inspection crew working in that lane.

I think one should avoid that bridge. Yes, very inconvenient for travel, but the consequences could be deadly. I remember the one in Tarpon
Spring that gave out. Please be careful.

I don't have any plans on driving on that bridge until I hear an all clear. I don't care if they do have one lane open.

Hallo!! Just want you to know that bookstores are deadly!! I just peaked inside one to take a look and somehow came out with Devolution - A first hand account of the rainier sasquatch massacre by Max Brooks. The same guy that wrote World War Z. And i thought, well WWZ was good and i already know a Sasquatch (giant) so this will be an oppurtunity to find out where he came from and before i know what i was doing i had bought it. So beware, Bookstores are deadly and venomous to your wallet. Will be kind of interesting to see if its any good though......

Knowing that area like I do, it will probably take longer to drive through the area with two lanes closed than to drive the 15 miles around the bridge.
You could drive the 15 miles and on your way back, stop and pick up some take-out... then throw up a food stall next to the bridge, you'll make a killing! (just don't lean on the bridge or your story might turn into a SK novel)

If the traffic is as bad as he says he’ll make more money setting up a pay toilet....

Max Brooks is the son of Mel Brooks. He's an interesting guy. He's on Bill Maher's show quite often.

Good morning!

Graduation and party are done. I am still exhausted, my mom just went home yesterday afternoon. All that work to get ready plus the emotional rollercoaster...I am beat.

We had 35-45 mph winds for the ceremony, poor kids couldn't keep their caps on their heads or their sashes on their shoulders. And it was still windy for the party Sunday, but slightly less, 25 mph.
Had a good turnout for the party and I think I pulled it off. Haha. I put my phone down early on and was running around trying to be a good host, so guess what...no pictures. Just one of Evan with his cake. Only regret about the whole thing. Will post some pics in Scott's thread.

Have to go to the dr this morning so I will be back later on today. Evan is going to start moving out today so I am going to need laughs and good company! ;)

Have a great day. Big hugs and positive vibes to all. :love_heart:

I just found out a little more info and I understand the one lane of traffic now. The bridge is 2 spans (3 lanes each) and they have discvored a large crack on the Southbound span. So the traffic has been moved to the North span, one lane each direction. It sounds like we will be down to one span for a very long time.

(((cat in a bag ))). You did great with the celebration. Birds have to fly. Evan will be fine- you raised him right.
