Me too... (How awful that they were all left there in the beginning. I suppose it is better than another alternative if you can't keep them, but... still so very sad.)
That is a big problem in the states. Animal shelters have signs - please do not leave animals at the gate. People do it anyway/ The worst is when people take unwanted critters, drive to rural areas and throw them out of the car. Scared, alone and in strange territory. Rural areas have wild critters that can easily pry on smaller domesticated animals. Yep my home is full.

My dog Bo had been abandoned in a rural area. He was hanging with a pack of abandoned dogs. I know this because a lady who lived there told me, she said people drop their dogs off there all the time. I took Bo, a Beagle-mix, because he wanted to get in my car. He had three lacerations from what the vet said was probably being hit by a car (the lady told me she witnessed a Beagle getting hit by a car). Also he wasn't fixed. I took care of all that.
