Just got home from the Jaws showing at Coolidge Corner Theater. It was pretty awesome! Completely sold out. Excellent 35mm print! Audience still jumps and screams in all the right places. They had a scar competition for prizes! The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy was there as well. Excellent organization. Fun time had by all. Now it's back to work and the latest round of family dramarama tomorrow :(
I would love to see Jaws on the big screen again! Glad you had a great time!

I know I might be in the minority -but seeing the Shining on the big movie screen is a lot more scary than on television. If you watch on regular channel they edit the good parts and kind of lose the effect.

On Sunday, I planted four new trees and set up three new trellises for trumpet vine starts. Thought that was enough to justify a nice glass of wine....starts with a "g" but I can't pronounce it, much less spell it.....Anyway, I thought I'd get so sit on the porch, enjoy some wine, and watch the neighbors.

But nooooo..........

As I was coming back into the house, I see a bunch of bees flying in and out of the framework at the bedroom window. Turns out to be a swarm of yellow jackets, and they've decided to build their nest there. I go into the bedroom, and can actually hear them working between the window frame and the outside wall..... I decided the bees had to die.
Had to go out to Lowes and get the spray..... Came home, waited until almost dark, and emptied the into the hole they had bored out in the window frame. It looked like a thousand bees came flying out of that nest. I thought that was the end of it....figured I'd go inside and enjoy my wine and listen to the crickets chirp....

But nooooo.........

Went into the bedroom, and there are bees inside my bedroom window. They were coming in through the window sashes somehow. They were staggering around all dizzy, so I swatted them with some rolled up paper. More bees followed..... I had to go back out....this time to Walmart because it was after 9:00, and noting else was open. Bought two more cans of bee killer, emptied one can directly into the crevices inside the window sash, went back outside, and emptied the other can around the outside of the window frame.....
More bees came out of the nest, and more bees got into the house. I whacked the ones I could, and got a can of hairspray to spray on the more lively ones.....Hairspray makes their wings sticky, and they can't fly. I spent the next two hours swatting yellow jackets and vacuuming them up. Needless to say, I closed the bedroom door and slept on the couch Sunday night.

Yesterday, I woke up to find more dead bees in the bedroom, and a few more still getting in. I got out the plastic sheeting that I use to help winterize the house, and covered that window as if I were preparing for winter. That seemed to stop them from coming into the house, so I stripped the bed, washed all the sheets, vacuumed up more dead bees.....went back out, got another can of bee spray, waited until dark, and hit the outside of the nest again. I think they're all dead now.
I counted 22 bees inside the house after I killed them.

I'm drinking the entire bottle of wine tonight......I deserve it.

So how was everyone else's holiday weekend?

I scrubbed my kitchen top to bottom, walls, windows, cupboards inside and out. Got two drawers working again that I haven't messed with for a loooong time. I used to keep the cat food in one and my Jinx would put his front paws on the lip of the drawer, his back paws on the drawer underneath and push...ride the drawer out then hop in and pig out. (He did this even when his bowl was full. I think he enjoyed the ride. ;-D) Anyway, he is heavy enough he bent the tracks on the drawers.

Rearranged some stuff since I had 2 whole more drawers to use. Microwave and fridge scrubbed, inside and out.

Yesterday I moved yet more stuff around in the basement. I got a lot done and feel good about it. Topped off the day yesterday watching Arachnophobia with the family, first time for the 3 youngest. Ali quit watching it pretty quick, but I had great fun watching Evan and Ty have the heebie jeebies and jump and scratch and squeal. ;-D

Sounds like CAT was a bizzy bee........

Did you leave it feeling dizzy?.....

Quite..that and some crazy woman was chasing me with a rolled up paper and hair spray. I tried to tell her I just had my hair done, but it didn't help.

Maybe your beehive wasn't tall enough.....

:D

My Mother had a beehive when I was a wee lad. I remember we went to see the Yanks at The Stadium one time and we had seats right under the first row of the upper deck. The fellas above us had a great time dropping ice cubes down from above into Mom's hair. Poor Dad took his lumps for those seats......LOL

The homeplace was mom's before she passed. She had old fashioned closets in her northern home- the type that had enough space to hang a Sunday dress or Church suit. Thus she wanted a huge walk in closet. The other two bedrooms have regular size closets.
I know just what you mean. I've seen some that aren't even deep enough to put in a clothes hanger--you'd have to use pegs (sometimes that would just be a nail) and then you could hang one flat against the wall or just use the pegs without the clothes hanger.
