Hi, I'm Pam, a longtime fan of Mr. King. I can't help but feel that missing Malaysian airplane has followed the fate of the Langoliers. Am I the only one thinking this?

Yeah, you're not alone. I'm looking forward to the interview with the guy in the back of the plane...or wherever it was he is sitting. Isn't his name the same...or close...to the name of one of those guys who wrote that Left Behind series? Maybe this is the rapture and we're now living in hell?

No, his name isn't the same...don't know if he was named. Robert Jenkins is the character with a name like one of the Left Behind guys...close but no cigar there, Jerry Jenkins is his name. Last few sentences of chapter eight is where this other guy is located, "a black-bearded man with bloodshot eyes staggered forward." Seems like he shows later, too, doesn't he? I've often wondered if that is a kind of Hitchcock cameo...remember those from watching Hitchcock movies? He'd show up somewhere on the film, maybe walking down the street? I looked at the character list at sk dot com but nothing identifies the black-bearded man unless I missed it. I dunno why they call this one 'short'. Heh! Short by King-standards maybe. I wonder what time we all start to break rocks?

Hi Pam, welcome to the board. I love the langoliers, and there is an eerie similarity in the 2, sadly I can't help but think the outcome will be even worse.
