So...to make long story short...my first venture into King was actually sarcasm....

I hated being told what to read, and for my senior English assignment we had to pick a book that was on the "approved" list, well IT wasn't on that list, but I figured at 1K pages, what could she say right? So the rebellious streak made me choose a book that wasn't on the list, wasn't conventional, and quite frankly I had no plans to actually read it.

Well...we had time in class to work on the report and I started glancing at the pages...two years, and around 15 books later, here we are.

I have re-read IT once, as well as own the audio copy. My order so far would be..

1. IT
2. Under the dome
3. Blockade Billy
4. 11/22/63
5. Cujo
6. Desperation
7. The Shining( I need to re-read, I didn't give it enough attention)
8. Doctor Sleep
9. Joyland
10. Pet Sematary
11. The Girl who loved Tom Gordon
12. The Regulators
13. The Tommyknockers
14. Cell
15. Christine

So in conclusion, HEY EVERYONE

Welcome! It's interesting that you put "Blockade Billy" third - many have not read it!

Impressive, but you cannot really know the man lest you have read the nonfiction (especially Danse Macabre), The Stand uncut (another 1k pp.),
The Dark Tower Book 1 The Gunslinger, and (at least) one story collection. I can suggest Skeleton Crew. While you're at it, consider reading one of the novellas, say, The Shawshank Redemption. No reason in particular other than it's brilliant.

I own Danse Macbre, The Stand(full uncut), and Skeleton Crew..haven't gotten around to reading them. I acquired around 25 books at once and now I still collect, but read one at a time so they all get the attention they deserve! Anyone have any feedback on his son? I own NOS4A2 but haven't got to it yet!

Both of his sons are writers, although my tastes run towards Joe's writing. He's very good.

Welcome. king books got to be the greatest. Any reason for starting is a good reason. Enjoy all there is to read.Owen king makes me laugh and Joe hill kind of follows in his dads writings. But enjoyed both of them. Have also read Tabithas books. Talented family.

I enjoyed NOS4A2 but just got a copy out of the library and I've never read any of Owen King's books. I enjoyed NOS4A2 quite a bit!
