1. The holidays are upon us and after discussion among the moderators, it has been unanimously decided that we will be closing the Board on the following dates to give us the chance to enjoy the holidays with our families and so that the volunteer moderators will not have to cover for me while I am on vacation. The Board will be open to read and those who have those privileges can still send private messages and post to Profiles.

LOL, looks like I have made three new Stephen King fans. We showed my stepkids the miniseries of The Stand, and they've really taken a shine to Tom Cullen! They keep creating new m-o-o-n's. Adorable. This is one of King's strongest appeals: he appeals to a wide range of audience, especially with his own quirky, goofy sense of humor, sometimes to the point of the grotesque, but always at crucial points where the seriousness and uncanny elements of the gothic threaten to overwhelm.

    GNTLGNT The idiot is IN

...Tom is easy to love...Laws yes!....there is much shrewdness and intelligence buried under his simple-mindedness...he is a man-child that shows off the beauty of the human heart and soul in such easy terms....we all could do with a little more Tom in us...

So what are some of the m-o-o-n's they've created, Cybird9? :)

LOL, wow, they came up with a lot of them, none of them particularly memorable--I'd have to ask them to remind me of some of them. Most of them were incidental remarks, but they would dissolve into giggles over the pure silliness of it. I let them watch it, mainly because the youngest said he wanted to take an avatar called Trash--where I chimed in and started calling him "Trashcan Man." He asked me where I got that name, so I told him, then he wanted to watch it. He decided he didn't want to be Trashcan Man after that! lmao

I'm glad to make any new Stand friends!

I adore the characters and I'm really fond of Ruby Dee's performance, it was spectacular! She should have won an award for that role I think. I've done a little research, did you know Mother married the Judge and the son plays the blues! Has an very interesting album too!

If I'm feeling like I need a distraction or a good fall asleep to movie for sure!!

Anybody else do any art stuff's or find any movie props?

Welcome to the board Tony. I have removed the links to your artwork as this board has a place to submit Stephen King related work. It's called Gallery XIX here. It has to be approved before you will see it there.

Once you submit, you can direct the message board community to your art by posting a message in the General Discussion and Questions area here.

He looked fixedly at the rat for a long time before letting the mattress fall back, mercifully hiding it from sight. "Just in case," Lloyd Henreid whispered into the silence. "Just in case, is all."' - The Stand

"You're nothing!" Glen said, wiping his streaming eyes and still chuckling. "Oh pardon me...it's just that we were all so frightened...we made such a business out of you...I'm laughing as much at our own foolishness as at your regrettable lack of substance..."' - Glen Bateman to Randall Flagg
