Good evening.

I was reading through some threads, a ton of old threads, and I thought, Ms. Mod could totally write a book! Most likely, a series of books on being THE Mod on the SKMB.

The highs and lows. The relevant and not relevant. The Good, the Bad , and the Ugly. All manner of things.

But most of all, dealing with the SKMB and the people who post. Not about Mr. .Stephen King, per se , but his fans.

You know what I mean.

:)

Ms. Mod is the bestest!

Dealing with the general public is alwsys dicey. I've ofyen thought i could write something about customer service experiences, but alas, i never took notes and only clearly remember a few good stories

That actually isn't a bad idea for a book project, maybe something small-press, like Cemetery Dance. She could write some essays about the board, how it started, what its mission statement is (in her mind), things of that nature. Then, she could reprint some of the more interesting posts. She also could reprint the Halloween tales (I'm assuming the terms of service would allow that).

One very fascinating essay subject could be about the incredible camaraderie among the board members that seems to have taken on a life of its own and become something much bigger than anyone could have ever anticipated. I'm not really on the board as much as other members, so I consider myself more an observer as opposed to a participant, but the club you guys and gals have formed has always intrigued me. This truly is a social network that is quite unique and sometimes engrossing to watch; sure, I suppose many discussion forums have similar bonding equities, but there's just something different to me about this particular section of the web devoted to the fandom of a single famous author. (I've pointed out before that many of the members almost seem to talk like a typical King character, especially when a response turns humorous or a thread is hijacked off into a different direction.)

Such a hypothetical book would be remiss if it didn't cover the Hot Topics section. The whole idea of moderating an off-topic piece of SKMB real estate whose temperature tends to increase swiftly and without notice tends to strike me as a rather odd, superfluous one; yet, it is allowed, and studying some of the discussions (and including many illustrative examples of the heated, devolutionary diatribes) might prove entertaining to readers. I also am willing to bet that section will be studied by web scholars in the future (I'm not kidding; I consider a discussion forum like that like anything else on the web that at least tries to put words together rationally: a cultural record of a specific point in time).

Finally, a brief introduction by King, as well as perhaps a short fictional story using the board as a focal point (written not by King himself but perhaps by Ms. Mod herself), would be the final touches that would balance out the proceedings in a very attractive manner. Anyway, just a thought-experiment reaction to a neat idea...
