Anybody doing hotdogs for the super bowl? This thread got me hungry,so I had them two nights in a row..think I am good on hotdogs for a few weeks,at least.. ;)

I had one last night with Cheese Whiz and hot dog relish on it. That took a while to digest (urp) - now I remember why I don't eat hot dogs often.

I like polish dogs, if I can get them. I haven't found a good polish dog in damn near a decade though, so I stick to a brand from Whole Foods.

My favorite way to enjoy a hot dog is with ketchup, mayonnaise, (yes, mayonnaise.) sauerkraut, and dill pickle relish. Dill pickle! None of that sweet relish for me, thanks.

The runner up is, of course, a chili dog. Cheddar, no onions, an ice-cold beer and...Pure Heaven.

You talking Kielbasa?

I haven't had that in ages. I feel better, now hungry.

Used to make a big ole mess of of browned pork chops, hot dogs, kielbasa, sauerkraut and potatoes in a crock pot.

Took it out the the garage to cook all day. Because, phew. Nobody wants that simmering in your house that long. Had to put vinegar on top of it when it was done.

Because I am elegant like that.

Yes! Our local gas station used to make these, along with the traditional dogs. I used to get the mild-spicy Polish dog and fix it up like I described, and it felt like heaven in my mouth. I have yet to find a polish sausage that meets my standards after those gloriously greasy, just spicy enough rolls of perfection.

Is there such a thing as a nice hot dog or sausage NOT made with pork?

I love kubassa but I have a friend who cannot eat pork and I wish I could find a place that sells nice sausage without any pork in it.

I used to buy brats or some kind of sausages made from chicken and/or turkey at SAM's Club. I imagine Costco has them, too. We have Kroger grocery stores here and they sell turkey sausage. And there are a number of all-beef hot dogs available.

Along with what Blunt said, Whole Foods has a brand, Fork in the Road? If I remember correctly they're all-beef hot dogs, and they are delicious! I've also seen and used all-beef kielbasa, but I don't know how good they would be by your standards; it's the same kielbasa you can find in Wal-Mart, Winco, and I think even Smith's. Not gourmet, but good enough in a pinch. And what's that brand of kosher hot dogs? I can't remember, but they're really really tasty, and I think they're all-beef as well.
Of course, I don't have a clue which stores you have nearby, so this could all be completely useless information....
