Voted for mustard, this thread is extremely important btw!
Thanks,we may be in the midst of a presidential race, stock market collapses, global terrorism, wars, natural disasters and the rest, but it is the little questions in life that occupy my thoughts..btw,if you ever get to central ny,in Syracuse try Hoffman's hotdogs at your nearest grocer,or Heid's of Liverpool, the best german style dogs,brats,etc..

Or you could stay away from hot dogs at convenience stores altogether.......

Yeah, I just do grilled onions that I slice myself. And no, "cutting the onion" is not code.
I don’t know... It has become a fond tradition to leave the house on a Sunday morning at 4am to go fishing, trying my darndest not to wake the wife and be regaled with accusations of “heathen”... and stop at the 24 hour convenience store down the road for the largest cup of hi-test coffee they have... with hopes there remains a couple of burnt and shriveled dogs on the rollers that have been there all night. Thankfully they don't charge extra for the flies. It just seems so right! :)

Mustard, onions and cheese whiz on a foot long hot dog. They just taste better :)

They have foot long hot dogs in Canada, Alexandra? What's that in metric? :p

I can't even find 'all pork' hot dogs at my grocery store anymore. Beef or beef/pork is okay as there seems to be no choice... but turkey, chicken, soy and tofu is just sacrilege.

Try the turkey ones DiO. The feathers tickle a little going down, but you get used to it.

I like many different toppings on hot dogs. But when it comes to the mustard/ketchup question, it's both. For French fries as well. One thing I don't think was mentioned yet was NYC-style pushcart onions in tomato sauce. And you have to have brown mustard with those. I make some good ones myself, if I may say so.

Are chilli-dogs a real thing or just a faux-US thing marketed in the UK.

If anyone ever visits Berlin (last time I went the Wall was still up) have a curry wurst. Like a hot dog but with ketchup mixed with curry powder on it. Very good from memory.

I had one (curry wurst) when I was there a couple years ago. It was delicious! And they had squirt bottles of mayo out on the counter for those like me who use that on their french fries instead of ketchup (yech). I can take ketchup mixed in with something else that changes its flavor but don't like it just out of the bottle as a condiment.
