Hope this isn't too long of a post for a newbie. Felt compelled to write it today.

6/13/15, Saturday

Dear Stehpen King,

I'm crying, entirely your fault. Am not an emotional person, do not cry easily.

It's a hot humid day in South Jersey, about 4 pm & I'm doing laundry & reading. Did I cry in the beginning of'11/22/63' along with our hero reading about the murders? No. I was delighted with your story idea. Not over the crippled girl, or Al. Yet, when that boy in the John Steinbeck's 'Of Mice & Men' play got the 1st sob from the audience, well, I started too.

Nearly half done this book & I almost want to call you an ass for the emotional roller-coaster, but that doesn't seem quite right. Love the way you draw characters, good & bad. Guess I better just say, 'Thank You.'

Right now, I need go buy it on Amazon as this copy is from my local library. In my room, I keep only those books that I re-read every few years because I love them so much. 'The Stand' already lives here.

As it happens, I was born in Portland, Maine, in 1957. Doesn't matter that I was only 3 months old when we moved to PA. Seem to have a New England mind-set. Please do more large print & none on Kindle only.

Thank you, again.

Sincerely,
Susan

Welcome, Susan. He got me with Joyland (well, he's made me cry lots of times, but that one was sneaky). I had to put the book down for a couple of hours before I could read anymore. The best thing is, though, that it never feels forced or like it's done just for effect--it's a natural outgrowth of the story. (and BTW, Joyland is one my favorite of all his books, so don't let me put you off--lol).

It's next on my list, since I read this.
