Personally, I thought Catcher In The Rye was a horrible book. IMHO. Rage is way better. At least there's a conclusion at the end of Rage. Catcher just left me wanting.....
LOL! I can't stand CATCHER either. RAGE isn't one of my favorites, but I do like it better. I never considered the reason being that there is some resolution (even if it is drastic)... hmmm... now I have to give that a bit of thought--thanks!

Wouldn't it be interesting to see what kind of a sequel King could come up with? Charlie Decker all grown up and out in the world......

Perish the thought! That is one messed up kid, no matter the provocation. Makes me think of Graham's line in the movie MANHUNTER, "...My heart bleeds for him, as a child. Someone took a kid and manufactured a monster. At the same time, as an adult, he's irredeemable...As an adult, someone should blow the sick f*** out of his socks."

I like to think that he's been rehabilitated. He would be an interesting character as an adult tho.

It isn't being included in new printings but as others have mentioned, the ones that were already distributed before Steve rescinded future publication rights are still available on the secondary market or in libraries.
I think I have 3 or 4 copies of Rage in paperback. I used to frequent a 2nd hand book store that was just off campus at the U of A back in the early 90's. You could literally pick up SK paperbacks for a buck or two a piece. I would pick up multiple copies if I could find them sometimes just because they were so cheap. They're all in the same boxes I packed them in in mid 90's along with all the other SK hard back editions I've collected. I really need to go thru them sometime. I honestly don't remember everything that is in there, but there is about 15 copy paper sized boxes I've moved several times over the course of 20 years and haven't opened many of them.

At least they let you read :D Hell has only Twilight books and fifty shades...

Twilight is very popular in the prison population. It was kinda funny. A lot of the girls try to act gangster and tough but when they would talk about the twilight saga they'd get all excited and giggle like little girls.

I think that's the kind of visceral reaction to this story that any writer would love! Ugly story about an ugly event--it works in that way. I kind of saw APT PUPIL as a more mature story about the same sort of feelings--does it seem that way to you?

Oh my goodness, Apt Pupil is art distilled into paper that had no idea it would be filled with such great art. Great concept and wonderful writing.

I suspect that may be through sites that are doing so by violating his copyright as it's my understanding that all publication rights were rescinded.

Copyright violators make me see red. I hope y'all catch the barstards and make them pay. It's no joke to see something you've spent time over and hope to make some scratch on plastered in e-media (often in other languages) for free, or at least so someone--NOT YOU--is making $ on it.
