I really liked this book when I read it last fall, very funny and it also had a lot of heart! Owen is a very talented writer who somehow uncovers the truths in the most ridiculous scenarios and flawed characters!

I just saw that Cemetery Dance was offering a special SIGNED version of Double Feature for sale at a very reasonable price, so I snapped it up!

It's actually not being published by Cem Dance, but they are getting a few copies and are offering them at the retail price (which is cool because I believe that it's sold out with the original publisher). Let us know when you get it and what you think of this edition.

I liked this one a lot as well. The humor is great and the story was interesting. Might even read it again at some point. Just to show that I'm not saying that because he is SK's son, I was somewhat disappointed at Joe Hill's NOS4a2. I'm a horror fan, but that one fizzled out after starting well.

I am ashamed to say I checked out Double Feature from the library but never finished it (I HATE it when I don't finish a book!). :( I think it will be one to come back to in the future. Maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind because it was extremely well written.

I listened to Double Feature on audio. I thought it was great! At first, I wasn't sure what to think. I was guilty of thinking it was going to have a horror theme to it, like his father and brother. But it was completely different. It was more of real life issues, a son trying to come to terms with his father, and his own life. It was hilarious at times. The ending was very beautiful, and funny. It brought me to tears because it was a relief to see how it all ended. I truly enjoyed it. I loved Booth's character. I wish I knew someone who really talked that way. I found him very enjoyable, although I was angry at him during certain parts of the book as well. Well, I'm trying to write without spoilers. I do recommend it. It's something off the beaten path and I thought has themes for today's generation. :)

I think he's a fine writer, and I laughed a lot at some of the absurdities (and thought PSH would have been GREAT for the main character's dad--he was by far my favorite character), but I liked his book of short stories better. As this book progressed, the absurdities strained belief more and more. I think he was going for a John Irving/Wes Anderson vibe--great guys to follow--but he hasn't got the chops yet (and to be fair, it's his first novel--Irving's first three weren't that great) to take those weird things and make them believable. Can't wait to see what he comes up with next, though. He really has a prodigious talent, in need of his own voice.

I got my signed limited edition of "Double Feature" yesterday! What a bargain this was at $65, I'm glad I snagged a copy while they were still available early this year. Pics below:

IDK anything about his book, but I don't understand why he decided to use the same exact publisher his dad uses. Didn't he consider the fact that it would be more than 100 times harder to sell his work as separate from his dad's if he uses the same publisher?
I keep running into people who accuse him of nepotism and they're not willing to even give him a chance to prove it ISN'T that.
I even could have had a flame war with someone who called it that, but I decided the guy was worth less than a red cent and never responded to his response.
I don't know about anyone else but I choose the path of LEAST resistance whenever I can. Life's hard enough without fools like that naysaying skeptic making it more difficult than it has to be.

Maybe he just wanted his book published? I might be wrong but I think King is Scribner's only 'horror' writer and Owen's books are definately not horror. I don't see where the conflict lies.

I don't either, but the guy who accused him of getting his book published "only because his dad's there and for no other reason" thought so.
That's why when I said you could give him a chance before you just assume it's that and he responded, I refused to read his comment.
I'm done with people like that.
