Why doesn't McDonald's sell hot dogs?
They tried and failed in the late 90's as a "summer special product". It was mostly in the midwest and plains states where they tried it. Ray Kroc always prohibited them because he thought they were unsanitary, but after his death they tried and failed spectacularly. They were called a "McHotdog". I tried one. They were awful. About the level of a 7/11 hot dog at 10PM.

Well the batteries I knew because I am a bit of an encyclopedia on technology (and electronics to some degree). I have a buttload of tech certs, some of which involved knowing those things. The MickeyD's dogs I knew because I tried one and read Ray Kroc's autobiography. So far just coincidental to things I happened to know. Of course, the more you read and educateamacate yourself, the more these coincidences happen. If it makes you feel better, I usually only miss 5-10 of the 60 questions on Jeopardy on a pretty regular basis. I do have a weakness with obscure operas and Scandinavian Royal histories. (Sorry Kurben :) )

Why is the baseball championship called the World Series if it is only played in the US?
(and, only involves one other country)
Sigh, I know this one too...

It has long been thought to be named after the New York World News paper because they sponsored the first few. Neither is true. It actually came from the Spalding Baseball Guide in the late 1800's. They used the term to make it sound more grandiose and spur interest on the sport worldwide. It was originally called the "Championship of the World" and the the "World Championship Series" and eventually shortened to what we know today.

How and why exactly is this supposed to make me feel better?? ;)

So, when are you trying out for Jeopardy? We watch it every night.... would love to see you on there!

I can ace categories but not the game - I don't read enough and what I do know I learned from my mom sharing what she read - and it was normally "Mom, who cares!" but I did retain quite a bit of it... I love the Jeopardy categories where they give you part of the answer, those I can breeze through! (e.g. "K"artoons - cartoons or cartoon characters that start with "K" etc.)

Oh, and Kurben time to "Stump The hossenpepper "
