I had a welding lesson a year or so ago. It was fun! I drew a daisy on a piece of metal. My uncle was impressed that I actually got the welding stuff to stick onto the piece of metal......
How bad can it actually be? :D

There is a skill to getting the weld to stick. If you don't do it right, it peels off or just sort of blobs there hovering over the area. To get it to melt into the space with that nice smooth flow is satisfying.

I got it to stick on my first try. However, I couldn't wear my glasses under the helmet, so the daisy turned out looking a little like a chrysanthemum. I was still very proud.
