I hired a legal immigrant today. His English needs work, but was well qualified for the job I had open. He said it has been extremely difficult finding employment. He was very grateful and said he was going to church tonight to thank God for answering his prayers to be able to provide for his family. When he left I think I was happier than him. It’s days like this that make all the sh!tty stuff bearable.

Thank you for hiring him. Those acts of kindness return two-fold. Did you ever have that talk with your daughter about foreign studies?

Thanks.

Yes, she is going through the application process right now. She agreed to pick international colleges that taught their classes in English (except for Germany, but she speaks German), and ones her university has an agreement where it would not cost us any more than her current college charges, except for airfare... and most importantly -- ones that are relatively safe. She has put in for Australia as the first choice, South Korea as the second, and Germany as number three. I'm not sure if she also put in for New Zealand or not.

That is really good news. I know you were concerned for safety. I do wish her the best in her endeavors. You should be very proud of her. Maybe one of the MB could provide some insight once she has chosen the college. Have a great weekend!!

My randomest thought of the day:
There are third world countries and first world countries...what about second world countries? Where are they?
Second world countries are countries which have resources but most of the resources are undeveloped or minimally developed, generally because of lack of funds. First world have resources and development. Third world have neither.

I almost cringe anymore when I log on to this place--sneaking past the obits (RIP) thread because it seems like someone dies every time I see it. I don't consume much news, and my teevee intake is mostly limited to fifty year-old movies and pre-recorded Squidbillies, so I miss the big time obits until I come here.

Stop killing all my heroes, SKMB!

I am hoping that we are pretty much done for this year.

Keep logging in anyway. Heard you showed up in Champs kitchen last night.

Thanks, off to find and watch Squidbillies again now.

Just another Manic Saturday.
