Hello you lot,

I have been sticking to my plan of reading my way through SK Novels in the order they were released, I figured that way I wouldn't miss any of those lovely little links there are through them, or big links for that matter! (I have read some of them previously but have gone back to the beginning).

Then I read something today that says that in Nightshift there is both a prequel and sequel to Salem's Lot in there, and now my brain hurts.

I figured you guys will have the answer! xx

"Jerusalem's Lot" is sort of a prequel to 'Salem's Lot, but it takes place LONG before the events in that town, and are unrelated to it. It's more of a Lovecraftian story. "One for the Road" takes place after 'Salem's Lot, but does not feature any of the characters from it.

That's OK then, it was being made out that they were more involved than that. Thank you :)

Ok guys, another question, I have stuck to my plan of reading through all of the SK novels in release order, I'm now half way through Firestarter and Cujo is next..Then I'm at the first Dark Tower book; question is do I read all of the dark tower books together? or continue to read in release order?

Personal opinion--- for a coherent, continuous journey I would ready the DT together.

It's entirely up to you, obviously, and I can see the sense in Spidey's view, but when I read the series I found I needed a break after book 2 or 3.

This might help in determining the order of how King novels should be read. :)

Personally I would not read them all together. As good as the story is, to read it in one go would leave me with a feeling of overkill and it would start to feel like a chore. Imagine IT being 4 or 5 times longer than it is, that's how the dark tower would be as a single session. As it is, with the exception of books 3-4, they all end nicely at natural break points (if I remember correctly, it's how I felt anyway).

The only way I would veer off from your plan would be to go straight from wastelands to wizard and glass but stop at the "Susan" story - that's a much more natural break point. Then pick up from Susan when the release order brings you back to Wizard and Glass.

I'd get all the big dogs out of the way first. Yer Stand, Pet Semetary, It, the eighties stuff, mainly, then go ahead and take the journey. Get thee to the Tower, walk that Beam. By book three you won't be able to put em down.

There's no wrong way to eat a Reese's, right? I don't know, I see Spidey's point but I think a little breathing room between each book is needed. The books reference older books, too, so continuing your chronological path might be better. Either way you choose, keep us updated on your journey. Like Muskrat says...it'll be tempting to read them all once you get going.

Sorry, wasn't helpful. Lol

Yeah, like I said I'm reading through in release order so I've read The Stand, Pet Sematary and IT were released after the first Dark Tower book so they would come after, (I have read Pet Sematary before) :D
