Reading "It" and "Under The Dome" recently, I noticed a few characters have red hair. Bill and Bev in "It". Jackie and Georgia in UTD. There is also Jimmy Cody from "'Salem's Lot".

So, how is the proportion in the real world Maine? I like how red haired people look, but there are practically none where I live (central Mexico).

I can't know how it is in Maine because I have never been there (with so many cosmic, ancient evils making Maine their home, it may be a very dangerous place to visit). :ambivalence:

Yes, Granny used to say that they threw all the ugly babies down the well. But, I'm almost certain that she was kidding. :suspect:

I have heard many times how people say that there are no ugly babies. In a lot of cases this would seem to be true. But I have surely seen a couple of babies that would surely not win any beauty contests. I just hope theirs features are something that may look good when they grow up (the opposite of beautiful kids who change into not so beautiful adults). :cool2:

I'm thinking, maybe he uses red haired characters because they seem more interesting. There are fewer gingers than blondes or brunettes, so that in itself sets them apart and makes them more intriguing. It makes a more impactful mental picture.
Authors, I've noticed often use unusual eye color for that reason. Maybe that's what he's doing.
I don't really know, actually. I'm just waiting for my toilet to get fixed.

Trying to think if I know any (natural) red heads here so I can answer that but I guess if I have to think that hard about it, I must not. :smile2:
I don't know if she still posts here. I haven't seen her in a while but her first name is Evelyn, and I think her handle was Cheeky Ginger.
I did a search here but nothing came up. I'm sure there are some red heads around here somewhere.

No newborn is objectively beautiful. They look sort of like squashed and very concerned turtles (a consequence of having just come through the Play-Dough fun factory of life). Lovely because they're alive and precious because they're helpless, of course, but most don't get actually attractive until a couple of months down the line :)

Well, I'm 50% Irish. So that makes the percentage of red hair....???? I don't know, ask my kid. She's the math wiz. :)
I don't have any Irish friends who DO have red hair--lol. They're mostly dark haired, with a few blondes in the mix. My friend Siobhan says red is more from Cork, and Americans associate red hair with the Irish because many people from Cork emigrated during the famine. Could be true :)

TV newborns are beautiful. Of course, having 6-months-old actors playing newborn characters helps a lot.

Mine hails from Galway. North of Cork and in the middle of the country.

Knock Knock
Who's there?
Galway!
Galway who?
Galway, you’re annoying me!
