I appreciate you going to the trouble, thank you. :)
I do think it is a shame that it is so expensive where you are. I can often buy a book for about 1 GBP plus shipping (4 more) That might be 8 USD in total. If i bought in a store (assuming they had it which is unlikely) i would have to pay at least twice that sum or even that sum times 4!!

Well if you liked Boys Life i'll think you'll like Speaks the Nightbird. But don't miss Swan Song at some point. They Thirst is a bit more immature though still a good fast paced story. Haven't read Mine (or Stinger for that matter) but i did like Wolfs Hour. The Hero is a werewolf in the middle of WW2. A good, different, werewolf story.

So should I try to find Swan Song, They Thirst or Mine at the library - or jump right into the Matthew Corbett series with Speaks the Nightbird? I've only read McCammon's Boys Life so far.
Morgan, try Swan Song (please set aside any kind of 'The Stand' comparison your mind will try to throw at you, these two books are vastly different from each other) or Mine, which I highly recommend.

Subterranean Press is now taking pre-orders for Robert McCammon's Stinger!! 1,000 signed/numbered editions ($80)and also here will be a lettered edition. If you pre-order shipping is free! Stinger was originally published in paperback in the US. There was never a hardback edition in the US. Stinger is a mash-up of horror, thriller and sci-fi. McCammon at his best!!Hunter, where are you? ;-D

Just checked what it would cost to buy Mister Slaughter... Expensive i must say. 16 GBP plus shipping. About 8 times the price for Queen. I think i hold off awhile. Why is McCammons books often so highpriced? Compared with others i mean.
Probably because he's not a hugely famous author like King is, and therefore probably doesn't have mega-big print runs for his books in other countries making them more rare and hard-to-find? That's my guess.

Flake, if I mailed you a copy, would shipping be expensive? I can get a copy at US Amazon for about $11.
Hey Danie, you're so sweet for thinking of that, (thank you!) but yes, I think it would probably be more expensive than the $27.00 (NZ) once you add in the cost of the book. (& shipping together)
I think the Book Depository is probably the best deal, but I might just watch them for a while and see if a cheaper copy pops up, sometimes they do I think. (shipping is free with them too which is a bonus)

Replying to a couple of things....

Sorry, kingricefan, it's been a hectic week, and I haven't checked in here recently. Thanks for posting the Stinger info!

As for why the books are expensive, as kingricefan said, the newer books (including the most recent Matthew Corbett books) were published by Subterranean Press, which is a small press (albeit one of the biggest small presses). They can't afford to keep books in print indefinitely, so when their print runs are gone, they're gone. They've done several printings of the Matthew books, but as of now, Mister Slaughter and The Providence Rider are, unfortunately, out of print. No paperback publisher has been interested in them, in part because S&S owns the rights to Speaks the Nightbird and The Queen of Bedlam. No paperback publisher wants to print books in a series for which some books in the series are controlled by another publisher. At least that's been true so far. Of course, as the books go out-of-print, book sellers who have them tend to increase their prices. And shipping from the US to NZ is crazy expensive these days....
