I wasn't too keen on the 7 year jump in the middle, but once McCammon had quickly whipped round the characters and told me where they were at, I soon forgot about the disappointed feeling I had!
That jump always throws people for a bit.

You can always do a re-read on it....I am suffering from that weird feeling you get when you are closing in on the end of an epic story, I want to read it quickly to know how it all pans out, but at the same time I don't want it to end. This may be one of the worst book hangovers I'll have had in a while...

Let me know what you think of Boy's Life and Swan Song when you get to them.Well, my first taste of McCammon (They Thirst, Wolfs Hour) left a good inpression and since so many spoken good things of his more historical Matthew Corbett books I fell for the temptation and ordered Speaks The Nightbird and Queen of Bedlam. And i have still Swan Song and Boys Life in my TBR-list. They lie in a pile on my bedtable.
I don't even remember this. Gonna have to do a re-read....Let me know what you think of Boy's Life and Swan Song when you get to them.
Boy's Life:
the dog scene... oh boy.
It's quite early on during the "Old Moses Comes to Call" chapter. (in the first 100 pages)I don't even remember this. Gonna have to do a re-read....
It's what we're here for, Kurben. Now you made me wanna read it!! And then i must reshuffle my bookpile about order and so on...

No more spoilers.... FOR YOU! (This is a quote, but... ah.. I can't remember where from. Early onset... )OK, guilty. I'm hopeless with temptations.
I love spoilers... Please continue to spoil me!!!No more spoilers.... FOR YOU! (This is a quote, but... ah.. I can't remember where from. Early onset... )
I would love to hear what you think of his Matthew Corbett books!!Well, my first taste of McCammon (They Thirst, Wolfs Hour) left a good inpression and since so many spoken good things of his more historical Matthew Corbett books I fell for the temptation and ordered Speaks The Nightbird and Queen of Bedlam. Interesting. Agree about They Thirst. But it somehow makes me more curious about his other books. Wolfs Hour was a really strong central character, the werewolf of the title, compared to the not so strong characters in They Thirst.Swan Song is interesting so far. Definitely hints of The Stand here (lol). McCammon is an interesting writer: They Thirst was very plot driven--characters were almost an after thought, just there to move the plot along. Speaks the Nightbird was also plot driven, but the characters were a bit more clearly defined. Swan Song, so far, is very character driven--they are fully fleshed individuals that could be put into any situation and stay interesting. Not many writers change up their styles as much as McCammon does.
Have you read Boy's Life yet? I have a hardcover BCE in good condition I'd be more than happy to send to you if you're interested!Swan Song is interesting so far.
