Here is an update. Apparently it was a pipe that burst. But the kids weren't there when this happened. So I don't know what Karen's sister in laws kid was talking about. There was no bombing, just a threat.
OCEAN CITY, Md. - Firefighters believe the source of smoke at Ocean City Elementary School is from the HVAC system.
According to the Ocean Pines Fire Department, crews responded to the school just before noon. According to Ocean City Communications Manager Jessica Waters, fire personnel are working to confirm the source, but believe it is confined to the HVAC system. Children and staff were not inside the building at the time the smoke was reported, Waters said.
Ocean City Elementary School was evacuated earlier this morning after a bomb threat was called into the school.
A spokesperson for Worcester County Public Schools says at this time, the students are being housed in the gymnasium and dismissal will go as originally scheduled. If a parent wishes to pick up their child early, they are permitted to do so.
